Grainger TV - Chris Grainger

CHRIS GRAINGER

Chris's passion for traveling and film-making began at the age of 12 on his first expedition to Africa, exploring the Okavango Delta from the back of an elephant while Greg and crew filmed some of the world's most fascinating creatures. Chris knew this was his path for the future.

Starting his career at 18 as one of Prime Television's leading reporters saw Chris traveling all around NSW covering a wide range of stories for the Network's stations in Canberra. Wollongong and Newcastle. For two years Chris reported on everything from medical reports to court proceedings. But his favourite assignments were beautiful heart warming stories.

At the age of 19, Chris was given the opportunity to direct part of the documentary TAMING THE TIGERS in Russia, which was aired by National Geographic. Chris worked with cameraman Geoff Longford to film the story of the world famous tiger trainer Nikolai Pavlenko.

In 2000, Chris joined Grainger TV full time, starting as production manager and shooting 2nd unit camera on international assignments. Since joining Greg and Jefferson at GTV, he has travelled to over 30 countries and helped to produce more than 40 programs.

Chris' speciality has been underwater cinematography. A passionate diver, Chris has filmed sequences for Discovery specials, such as TANTALIZING TAHITI.

Among Chris's personal highlights has been filming 2 juvenile whale sharks on Christmas Island, walking and filming in a blizzard across South Georgia, tracking polar bears across the Arctic in helicopters, scuba diving with the king of the ocean the great white shark, dancing with the lemurs across Madagascar and roaming from coast to red centre with the Deadliest Destinations series in Australia.

Today Chris is a partner in GraingerTV, in charge of post production.
